Yo Mama’s

Birmingham, Alabama

The new Yo Mama’s restaurant in downtown Birmingham transforms a vacant shell in the Birmingham Parking Authority Deck #3 into a dining destination that blends the comfort and soul of its beloved original location with the scale needed to serve a growing customer base. Relocating from its 1,300-square-foot space, the new restaurant has increased capacity from 36 to 125 seats to provide extra space. Counter seating along the windows on Fourth Avenue North allows guests to enjoy their meals with a view, while two large communal tables encourage group dining and community interaction. To meet increased demand for private events, the new space includes a private dining room accommodating up to 30 guests, making it ideal for parties, meetings, and other gatherings.

The design transforms what was once a blank canvas, bare cinderblock walls, exposed utilities, and unfinished flooring, into a warm and inviting space. Brick veneers mimic the exposed masonry of the old location, while pops of color add vibrancy and personality. Soft, layered lighting creates a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that the larger space still feels personal and connected to the “feel-good” brand.
With its expanded capacity, private event accommodations, and thoughtfully designed interiors, the new Yo Mama’s remains true to its roots, a bigger, livelier space designed for community, comfort, and connection.
