Historic Preservation

We use a holistic approach that considers the building’s former use and the integrity of the existing architectural materials to inform an accurate restoration design and appropriate material repair treatments. We begin this process by carefully surveying the extant building and surrounding context. Our team takes the lead on assembling and managing specialty consultants, material conservators, and engineers to offer customized solutions for specialty craft trades. Archival research is used to inform material repairs, reconstruction, or the replication of missing elements due to previous removal or damage. The resulting design maintains the originally intended aesthetic and offers a mindful approach to historic material compatibilities.

Our team is keenly aware of the Secretary of Interior's Standards for rehabilitation, preservation theory, and appropriate historic material treatments to successfully guide projects through the process of Federal and State Historic Tax Credits. We collaborate with our clients to create customized design solutions that adhere to their needs and culture, while also upholding the requirements of the Historic Tax Credit Program.
